Solar Floater, Brown Solar Engineering Pitch Project
Developed as part of the Brown STEM Solar Engineering Summer Program, Solar Floater is a solar-powered pool heater designed to demonstrate efficient and sustainable energy use in residential settings. The project was built alongside college-level coursework covering the fundamentals of solar energy—including how solar cells work, system components, and how to design solar arrays to meet specific electrical demands. Through the design and pitch of Solar Floater, key concepts such as power management and energy consumption were explored in a hands-on context. The project also earned first place in the program’s data visualization challenge, receiving a large solar panel as a prize for effectively communicating performance data and energy insights.
